PSTD is a place of ugly recollection. a barrel of guns filled with the horrors of the past of every bombs undetonated but all the same waiting for a trigger to explode a whole dementing vision and haunting stories of what had been done in the past. In PSTD there is no reason and for some reason, PSTD is a prison cell to which most people are trapped and held against their will. It’s an endless nightmare to a nightmare to a nightmare, like suddenly life has become a repetition of everything traumatizing in your past. PSTD ruins persona sanity – it destroys life – and other lives connected to the affected.
The stifling reality of people dealing with trauma other than disturbing and troubling to witness also evoke feelings of pity and sympathy to which as someone who care for them, you feel powerless and useless. You feel like nothing you can do to make them feel better will ever work for them. You feel that you are trapped along with their own dark prison only you are watching them from another cell – not able to reach out and grab them out of their swallowing black hole of darkness and nightmares. It’s disconcerting to see them struggle over the incessant and insistent attacks during the night or even in the broad daylight when something or someone pulls the trigger to their direction.
Believe it or not but surviving a horror story is only the gateway to what is far worse and destructive condition which trauma. Up to this day, a lot of people in the field of psychotherapy have been relentless and eager to find the ultimate cure that will work for all people with all kinds of traumatic experiences and haunted past. There are therapies and psychological approach that only works with some group of people with similar to exact pasts and traumatic experience like witnessing the war, or being part of it as a fighter, and some people are grouped together when all of them experienced sexual assault.
There are different disturbing and ugly stories behind every person’s PSTD and traumatic episode. Not everyone might sound the same and exact but one thing is for sure, every person that is dealing with PSTD are all suffering in the mind and eventually physically and emotionally. If you have a family member who has PSTD then you need to be their source of reason and source of strength because right now they are the most unstable in every aspect. You need to do the action and help them overcome their PSTD attacks by trying an approach that will work for them.
As the world approaches the modern future, a lot of things, in light of coping with PSTD have been introduced and suggested to the general public. The traditional way has always been envisioned to take place inside the four corners of a psychiatrist’s office. But there are also non-traditional ones that are believed to be effective and just like the traditional ones like the introduction of EDMR or the so-called Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.
